【Abstract】 The influence of pilot tone modulation on system bit error rate(BER) performance is investigated both theoretically and experimentally, while it is found that this influence is less than 0.5dB with a modulation index less than 5%. The application of modulation and demodulation panels in a 8 channel WDM system show that they can be used for channel counting, monitoring of channel optical power variation and EDFA gain clamping.更多还原
