【Abstract】 The availability of a repairable system represents a basic and elementary measure within reliability engineering. But the mean time between failures (MTBF)and the mean time to repair (MTTR),which are commonly difficult to know, are by themselves quantities of practical interest, and can be even more important than system availability.
