【Abstract】 The intriguing "vase-shaped microfossils",consisting of 13 species in 9 genera,were reported by Duan Cheng-hua and Cao Fang(1989) from the Doushantuo Formation(Late Sinian) of the eastern Yangtze Gorges.They were regarded as test remains of the earliest protists.After examining macerated preparations,serial sections of selected individuals,and a great many petrographic thin sections under the microscope,the writer considers that they are not vase-shaped microfossils,but a kind of sedimentary structure with some cyanophytes or bacteria involved in its formation.更多还原
