【Abstract】 An experimental study was performed for the flow characteristics of a plane free cross mixing layers by flow visualization. Observations for the develop-ment of the coherent structures in a Air/CO₂ mixing layers were made by two kinds of spark shadowgraph methods（one was a new shadowgraph method）. Analyses and explorations were conducted for some aspects of the characteristics, formation and development of the helical structure in the mixing layers. In addition,this paper also analyzed the effects of velocity ratio and angle between the cross streams on the for-mation and development of the helical structures.更多还原
