角向不均匀光纤双折射
BIREFRINGENCE IN AZIMUTHALLY INHOMOGENEOUS OPTICAL FIBERS
【摘要】 为了计算角向不均匀光纤双折射,本文给出一个简单直观的公式。该公式允许预言光纤最佳结构。这最佳结构使给定参数的光纤双折射最大或最小。结果表明,要求获得最大双折射的最佳结构类似90°扇形角蝴蝶结。数字结果表明,即使在弱导引条件下也可获得10-5模式双折射。
【Abstract】 A simple and intuitive formula is presented for the calculationof birefringence in azimuthally inhomogeneous optical fibers. This formulaallows prediction of the optimum structure which maximizes or minimizesthe birefringence for given fiber parameters.It is shown that the optimumstructure required to achieve maximum birefringence resembles a bow-tiewith 90°sectors. Numerical results show that the modal birefringence of10-5 is obtained even under the weakly-guiding condition.
