【Abstract】 Improvement of small watershed by contracting with households first emerged in 1981 in Xishan area, Shanxi province and has since then been rapidly popularized. Through contracts with households, a new stage of development of improvement of small watersheds by means of conservation practice is being ushered in. In order to further sophisticate and consolidate assuming responsibility by households in managing watersheds, detailed investigations were made in the last winter and spring at all levels in the Xinzhou prefecture. The merits have been fully confirmed, while problems arising therefrom were also revealed,to be solved before new steps forward may be paced out. Measures to cope with the aforesaid are being presented correspondingly. It is required to further implement the assuming of responsibility through contracting, each household not to enforce contract embodying too much work. Benefits in near future are to be laid stress on and the households are encouraged to carry out the work on the basis of cooperation, so that the work of improving small watersheds may be done still better.更多还原
