【Abstract】 About 20 samples of surface sediments from the western sea area of theAntarctic Peninsula (60°-66°35’S, 55°-69°30’W), which were collected during the first expedition of China in the Antarctic, were examined in order to determine the variation in the distribution of the foraminiferal populations. 150 species are found. The list of the species, the distribution table and plates are given here. Two different assemblages including four subassemblages have been identified:1. Shallow assemblage (within depth of 550m): subassemblage la (within depth of 200m); subassemblage 1b (within depth of 200-250m);2. Deep assemblage (the depth is over 1500m): subassemblage 2a (within depth of 1500-2000m); subassemblage 2b (the depth is from 3000 to 4200m). Relation of the foraminiferal distribution with temperature, depth and oxygen has been expounded, and other factors influencing the ecology of foraminifera in the Antarctic have been discussed.更多还原
