【Abstract】 The mine manager must order the wagons from the rail-way management to haul out the next day’s output of coal.In consideration of the charge for surplus empty wagons,when too many wagons were ordered,and the cost resulting from storing coal on open field, when unenough wagons were ordered, how many wagons must be ordered to reduce the total cost to the minimum.This problem was discussed in the paper and the available formulas were given.
