Recent progresses of chemical synthesis and optical resolution of DL methionine and its derivatives were reviewed in this paper. In the first part, chemical synthesis, including by acraldehyde, malonic ester, amino lactone and others were discussed and synthesis by hydantoin was emphasized. In the second part, optical resolution of DL methionine, such as membrane separation, separation by formation of adduct or complexes, resolution with L phenylalanine or methionine derivates and so on were introduced. ...
