The species of Rheum L. in China are distributed to the west of the line from Da Xingan ling Mountains, Taihangshan Mountains, Qinling Mountains, Dabashan Mountains to Yunnan--Guizhou Plateau. The eastern Tibet Plateau is their distribution center. The species substitution is found in this center, in the area to the west of the center along latitude gradient, and in the northern part of China along longitude gradient.
