Titanium and titanium alloys are excellent candidates in national economics and defense industry.To improve the application characteristics,some surface treatments are adopted.In this paper,the advanced and effective methods of surface treatment on titanium and its alloys were reviewed and extensively discussed in applications,such as chemical treatment,anodic oxidation treatment,electroless plating and electrodeposition,micro - arc oxidation,electrophoretic deposition,nanoelectrodeposition, etc.
