In this paper,AZ91D-Y semi-solid billets were prepared by near-liquidus forging.Microstructure evolution of AZ91D-Y prepared by near-liquidus forging was studied during reheating.Barrel shaped components of AZ91D-Y were also formed by thixoforging.Results show that in the near-liquidus forged billet,fine dendritic structures evolve into blocked structure,then into cloddy pulverescent structure,finally irregular gains are spheroidized and coarsening mainly by Ostwald ripening mechanism during reheating.The b...
