Currently used lead-containing copper alloys result in contamination to drinking water and environment. In response to an ever increased environmental and health concern in public, the industry needs new copper alloys containing no-lead.This paper gives a review of technical development in search of the no-lead copper alloys, based on the analysis of the mechanism of the lead in copper machining and casting processes. The problems and the prospective for the no-lead copper alloy technology are also discussed.
