A review is made on progress of chemical conversion coating of magnesium and its alloys,including chromate conversion coating,phosphate conversion coating,permanganate conversion coating,rare earth conversion coating,zirconate conversion coating,and organic compound conversion coating.Moreover,the advantages and disad- vantages of the above mentioned processes are analyzed,and the development trend of the chemical conversion technol- ogies for Mg and its alloys is prospected.
