A simple, fast, inexpensive, and sensitive technique for the detection and identification of gasoline residues on cotton clothes of arson suspects was presented by SPME ( solid phase microextract). The SPME recovered very small amounts of liquid. It was enable a fire investigation team to positively identify gasoline residues quickly.
