猕猴桃作为新兴水果,营养丰富,被誉为“水果之王”,以富含Vc和风味独特而深受人们喜爱。‘华特’猕猴桃(Actinidia eriantha'White')是浙江省农科院园艺所等单位从野生毛花猕猴桃中选育出的自然变异品种,鲜果中Vc含量高达568.9~1137.0 mg/100g,其果皮易剥离,是目前为止最易剥皮的猕猴桃品种;‘红阳’猕猴桃(Actinidia chinensis 'Hongyang')为中国特有野生猕猴桃资源——系列红肉猕猴桃(Actinidia chinensis var. rufopulpa)品种(包括‘红阳’猕猴桃、‘红华’猕猴桃和‘红美’猕猴桃)之一,其红肉的性状极具开发利用价值。‘华特’和‘红阳’猕猴桃作为稀有珍贵品种,具有广阔的市场前景和开发利用价值。
