灵菌红素(Prodigiosins)是一类天然红色素家族的总称,许多微生物如放线菌(Streptomyces)和细菌(Serratia,Pseudomonas)在代谢过程中可以产生此类物质。研究发现,灵菌红素具有抗菌、免疫抑制和诱导肿瘤细胞凋亡等作用,因而引起人们广泛的关注。
论文中以粘质沙雷氏菌(S.marcescens AB 90027)为出发菌株,采用传统物理化学[紫外诱变(LiCl)和微波诱变]诱变方法,筛选得到了遗传性状较稳定的高产菌株YW-1,生产灵菌红素的能力较原菌株有了很大的提高,摇瓶发酵产量为95±5 mg/L,比出发菌株(35±5mg/L)提高了近1.7倍。

Prodigiosin, a tripyrrole pigment biosynthesized by Serratia marcescens and some other bacteria, exhibits antimicrobial, immunosuppressive and cytotoxic properties. Recent studies showed that prodigiosin exhibited selective cytotoxicity against cancer cells and induced apoptosis in several cancer cell lines, but was not toxic to healthy cells.
