X–ray diffraction method was adopted to measure and analyze the residual stress of metal material treated by ultrasonic impacting, and analyze the distributing of half–width of diffraction peak along the layer thickness. The results indicated the depth of residual stress can reach about 2 mm under stated ultrasonic impacting treatment, and the depth of crystal grain's broken layer can reach 1 mm.Increasing proper residual stress and half–width can inprove fatigue resistance of metal material.
