This paper researches some issues on the sound compound words in Chinese such as the qualitative diagnosis of it,the relationship between it and the Fanqie sound glosses and the classification of it.It concludes that this kind of compound words should be counted as an independent one since it is different from the Fanqie sound glosses,and should be classified as three types according to the three different stages of its development.
