With the development of urbanization,the interaction between urban and rural areas has been strengthened.In the suburbs a new geographical entity of gradual rural-urban transition appeared-urban fringe.The study learned the concept and analysis of the urban fringe from domestic and foreign scholars,taking Lanzhou city as a case,defined the scope,concluded the features and functions systematically.
