Laccase may work as a virulence factor in fungal pathogenesis. There are 16 laccase genes annotated in the Magnaporthe grisea genome database. In this study, we applied bioinformatics and gene knock-out techniques to study the function of laccase gene Mgg_00551.5 in the fungus.
