Site-specific delivery capsule (SSDC) ,an engineering-based capsule based on MEMS technology, is a new method to realize non-invasive drug delivery to the selected sites of the human gut. With SSDC, non-invasive human drug absorption( HDA) studies are taken to provide a “route map” for new drug development. The paper gives a review of the progress of SSDC. The SSDC system for the studies of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) pharmacology, developed by Chongqing University, is introduced in detail.
