A method for identifying the variety of the plastics is put forward. The variety of the scrap & recovery plastics for the general purpose was identified by such steps as the appearance identification, combustion identification, solubility identification, density identification, element identification combined with IR spectroscopy. Using this method, the variety of the common plastics can be rapidly and simply identified, being convenient for the inspection and quarantine work.
