The mechanism of formation of surface residual stresses on structuralceramics upon grinding is studied. Action of the grinding wheel is imitated by single grain diamonds. In order to imitate the individual stresses resulting in the residual stresses, various alterations have to be made on the cutting parameters andgrain shapes.
