A mutant of Brevibacterium lactofermentum FMP92814, derived from ATCC 13869, was selected by multistep mutational breeding. It was characterized by resisting analogues of phenylalanine and requiring tyrosine for its growth. Fermentation conditions of FMP 92814 were described in this paper. In a 5 liter jar fermentor, the mutant produced 25.2 g/L of phenylalanine with 16.8% of conversion rate.
