The grain proteins of 50 China-grown winter wheat cultivars were fractionated by SDSpolyacrylamide gel electrophoresis to determine their high molecular weight glutenin subunit com-position. Using the method described by payne (1987), the quality scores of each of the subunitswere summed to create a Glu-1 quality score for each cultivar.
