Four compounds were isolated from Ilex kudincha C. J. Tseng. One ofthem-the major aglycone of this plant, has molecular formala of C30H42O3, m.p. 249-250℃, was a new compound and named kudinchagenin (Ⅳ). The structure of Ⅳ which was determined by means of spectral analysis (UV,IR,1H NMR, 13C NMR and MS) was proved to be a new pentacyclie triterpenoid with a lactone group. The others were identified as α-amyrin, β-sitosterol and ursolic acid.
