Bacterial soft rot of Elephant-foot Yam was identified to becaused by Erwinia carotovora pv. carotovora. The pathogenic bacterium in-vades the host plant through the wounds of the leaf blade, leaf stalk and tuberand causes a rapid soft rot which can even kill the whole plant.
