In order to analyze the shorting pin and the probe feed of a microstrip antenna using FDTD method, an approach is presented by integrating a one-dimensional transmission line model and a thin wire model. The advantage of the presented approach is easy to implement. A good agreement between the calculated and measured results indicates that the approach is effective.
