【Abstract】 Chomsky assumes that a language is a formal deductive system and the central part of which is the universal grammar,a set of innate rules of language.Most recent findings in biology,genetics and cognitive sciences are at odds with the hypothesis of universal grammar.Evidence from ordinary language investigations suggests that a language is not a formal system with a set of preestablished rules.Furthermore,the linguistic competence of human beings cannot be explained merely by universal grammar.Linguistic competence is a sort of complex faculty of human beings,with the faculty of sensation,of motion,of inference,of understanding,of adapting to environment and so the like integrated.更多还原
