【Abstract】 Different in functions are the two English discourse markers,on the other hand and on the contrary,the former mainly used as a contrast marker,while the latter as the function of negation.A corpus investigation into the latter shows that Chinese EFL learners of all levels frequently mistake it for a contrast marker,resulting in its misuse in their writing.The causes behind this phenomenon are as follows.Firstly,some dictionaries carry misinformation,and,secondly and more importantly,the EFL learners are negatively affected by their mother tongue,while this tendency is not properly addressed either in or out of classroom.更多还原
