【Abstract】 A novel measuring system designed for evaluating the flexibility of pulp fibers is presented in this paper.Based on beam-bending theory and digital image processing technique,the flexibility index of pulp fibers which was calculated with the unbonded span distance,fiber coarseness and the diameter of the metallic wire was easily obtained with the aid of charge coupled device(CCD) camera,frame grabber,image processing software and computer.Three kinds of fibers including softwood pulp fibers,hardwood pulp fibers and nonwood fibers,were tested with the apparatus.The results showed that the system is suitable for these fibers and could provide an objective and quantitative method for evaluating the flexibility of pulp fibers.更多还原
