【Abstract】 Patients with acute high fever and headache occurred in Ziyang and Neijiang prefectures in Sichuan Province, in July 2005. Some serious cases had poisoning shock and meningitis. All of them were related to dead pigs because of illness. Within one month, 204 cases of illness were reported, and 38 of them died, who were distributed in 37 counties of 12 prefectures, mainly over Ziyang and Neijiang prefectures. Streptococcus suis serotype 2 was diagnosed definitely as the single pathogen for the above-mentioned cases. During the epidemic period, 647 pigs with streptococcosis died, which were distributed in 21 counties of 8 prefectures in Sichuan Province.更多还原
