A Critical Note on the Scientific Name of the Cultivated Edible Fungus,Zhudugu
【Abstract】 Morphological criteria have been used to critically assess the taxonomic status of Zhudugu, an edible fungus cultivated in China. Data demonstrated that the characteristics of Zhudugu matched those of Panus giganteus (Berk.) Corner, and were clearly different from those of Clitocybe maxima (Gaertn. et G. Mey.: Fr.) Quél. Therefore, it is proposed that C. maxima, presently the widely misused scientific name for Zhudugu in China, should be replaced with P. giganteus.
