【Abstract】 How does social capital generate human capital?This article presents an empirical study of this process through a case study of senior secondary school students in Hong Kong.The study distinguishes the units of analysis between the students and their parents,and explores how the students use their individual social capital and that of their parents to generate human capital.The study finds that whereas the students’ family background is not a significant factor,the students’ scores in public examinations and their social capital are indeed two significant factors on their progression towards higher education and on their institutional and occupational choices.更多还原
