【Abstract】 Tongya,a book written by Fang Yizhi,modern China’s enlightenment thinker,deserves to be called a 17th-century encyclopedia,for it touches upon all the academic fields both in China and western countries.The core of this scholarly works focuses on primary education,the core of which focuses on phonetics.Seven fields can be found as Fang’s important achievements as far as the ancient phonetics is concerned.Based on his research results of ancient phonetics,Fang became the first,in the history of Chinese linguistics,to scientifically seek a word’s meaning according to its sound and made great achievements in many other fields such as etymology and the like,which initiated the scientific textual research in Qing Dynasty as well as modern China’s academic research.更多还原
