一个嵌入式多媒体应用平台的设计与实现
Design and Implementation of a Platform for Embedded Multimedia Applications
【摘要】 提出了一个嵌入式多媒体应用平台,并详细介绍了它的设计与实现。该平台是一个基于MIPS架构的标量RISC,具有哈佛结构,5级流水线,虚拟内存管理,以及增强的多媒体处理能力。其最大特点是一个支持不对齐数据存取和二维DMA传送的数据路径,以及分离的片上指令和数据存储器。这种特殊的结构极大地提高了多媒体处理中常见的不对齐数据和块数据的存取效率。该处理器平台在UMC 0.18μm标准CMOS工艺下流片实现。
【Abstract】 A platform for embedded multimedia applications is presented.Its design and implementation are described in detail.The proposed platform is an MIPS-based scalar RISC with Harvard micro-architecture,5-stage integer pipeline and enhanced multimedia processing capacity.It features a data path including non-aligned data access mechanism, two-dimensional DMA function and separated embedded instruction and data memories.This special architecture greatly promotes execution efficiency of boundary-crossed and block data access operations often found in multimedia processing.The prototype has been fabricated using UMC’s 0.18-μm standard CMOS technology.
