【Abstract】 In the Turn of the Screw, are ghosts making troubles or desires making troubles? This is an issue Jamesian critics arguing for years. But few critics concern about the form problem which Henry James hoped to illustrate with this novel. Through close reading, this paper answers the question whether ghosts or desires make troubles, and analyzes the reason which produces the two ways of understanding—the first person narration—which James strongly opposed, from another aspect proving the necessity of James’s advocation of the narration of the third person limited viewpoint.更多还原
