【Abstract】 In the United States, medical anthropology has played an increasingly central role in public health research in recent years, particularly regarding HIV/AIDS. This paper first describes various approaches in which anthropology has been applied to the task of yielding a more nuanced understanding of risk behaviors, and the social and cultural contexts with which these behaviors are embedded. In China, medical anthropology is likewise poised to play a similar role in addressing the health-related issues of this vast, ethnically diverse nation. However, until recently much of the research that might otherwise be carried out by Chinese anthropologists had been initiated by public health practitioners. This paper also analyzes the urgent needs of the current ADIS epidemic in China and its potential disastrous threat in the future for anthropological research and Chinese anthropologists. It is believed that it is imperative for anthropologists and other qualitative social researchers to focus their attention on HIV/AIDS.更多还原
