【Abstract】 During the last twenty years since mid-1980s, there have been several noticeable trends in the lending of US commercial banks. Supported by rich data, this paper examines the changes of the relative importance of commercial banking lending in US credit market and in the assets of commercial banks, changes in the loan composition, and the loan quality.
