Effect of reduced glutathione combined with metformin in the treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease
【Abstract】 Objective To assess the therapeutic effect of reduced glutathione combined with methormin on patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. Methods 60 patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease were randomly divided into two groups and the patients in treatment group were treated with reduced glutathione combined with metformin(n=30) , while in control group treated with silymarin combined with vitamin C (n=30) for consecutive 4~6 months. Results The levels of serum ALT,AST,γ-GT in treatment group were all abviously reduced at the end point compared with the baseline. The levels of serum ALT in control group was reduced, but the levels of serum ALT,AST, γ-GT were no obriously changed; the abnormity of TG,TC,LDL-C and HDL-C were all markedly ameliorated in treatment group while no obvious change occurred in control group after treatment; the level of IRI in treatmant group was significantly decreased at the end point compared with the baseline(P<0.05),while the change wasn′t obvious in control group(P>0.05);meanwhile, liver/spleen CT ratio in treatment group were obviously increased after treatment(P<0.01), and no severe side-effects occurred during the experiment. Conclusion Reduced glutathione combined with methormin is an effective and safe remedy for treatment of non-alcoholic fatty liver discase.
