【Abstract】 Based on the survey of English literature,this paper examines three theoretical issues,which include the function of producer service industry in regional development,externalization and location of producer service industry.On the viewpoint of traditional theory,producer service industry was classified as non-basic economic activities,because it can not be transported in a long distance and its development was based on the agriculture and manufacture.Recent studies show that some producer services are basic economic activities,others are indirect economic activities,therefore,producer service plays more important role in regional development.As concerned externalization of producer service,the paper argues that flexible production and the growth networks of producer service are important background for the externalization of producer services,however,the externalization of producer service is determined by a lot of factors such as category,nature of producer service as well as complexity of producer service.As for the distribution of producer service,the paper proposes that producer service spatially shows a kind of trend of both agglomeration and diffusion,which shows the tendency of agglomeration to metropolitans and diffusion to suburbs.Currently,producer services have practical implication of transition of economy and upgrade of industry of China,as well as increase of employment.Thus,the theoretical study of producer service should be strengthened so as to guide the practices of producer services.更多还原
