【Abstract】 The question of identity and the relation between subject and other are both crucial issues in the post-colonial theories.This thesis deciphers the novel Disgrace by South African writer J.M.Coetzee from a post-colonial perspective. It looks into the downfall and peripherization of the subject position of the whites who become the objectified "other" and lose their identity of the privileged European whites,and illustrates that the rape of white women by black men, which is a popular trope for post-colonial discourses of resistance,is actually a repetition of colonial suppression.Discusses the conception and its significance of reconciliation,forgiveness and harmonious co-existence in the process of decolonization,as is revealed in the novel itself.更多还原
