【Abstract】 Gatsby stakes almost everything on his dreams. He dreams that he is able to acquire vast fortune, to step into the higher social group, to possess Daisy’s heart and hence to pursue happiness. His entire efforts are focused on making these dreams come true. But all his efforts end in failure even though he fulfils his first dream of money. Gatsby’s dreams of status and love inevitably crush beneath the harsh reality of life. In the end, Gatsby falls a victim to his own dreams as well as the American society.更多还原
