【Abstract】 The characteristics and functions of Indian caste system,which has been survived for thousands of years,are ever changing with the development of the society.Today,the political functions of the system have been strengthened,as evidenced in the following aspects: the further political awakening of the lower caste groups who have formed their own political parties and associations and taken a more active role in political activities;more exploitation of the system by the political parties as seen in the fact that all forms of election cannot go without caste issues being involved;the frequent racial conflicts which have led to the volatile political situation.更多还原
