【Abstract】 Shen Yue was a renowned poet and a leading man of letters between Qi and Liang Dynasties, whose literary activities included poetry writing, promoting green hands, participating in literary schools and advocating new literary ideas. He masterminded the "four tones" which greatly popularized the theory of rhyming. In particular, his realistic approach and popular orientation in poetry writing helped overcome the stiff and obscure styles of his time.
