【Abstract】 The high-speed and wide-band web is not popular at present. The VOD using modem is hardly to get a satisfactory effect although there are some video clips to broadcast on the web. But the file downloading rate on LANs of some businesses, institution and universities may actually get from hundreds MB to 1 MB or so, which makes it possible to realize VOD on such a LAN using the streaming media technology.
