【Abstract】 This article analyzes, compares and contrasts the systems of music education in normal music schools in China and the U. S. A. Differences were evaluated to determine which should be incorporated into the Chinese system. Years of experience as both a student and professor in Chinese universities combined with the experience gained from receiving a master’ s degree from a U. S. university have qualified me to perform this task. 1. Practical and theoretical disciplines of music should be combined in the same course. Students should be given more opportunities to perform in ensembles such as choirs, chamber groups, bands and orchestras. 2. To prepare students for work or study abroad, English should be used as a medium of instruction in some courses. 3. In major classes, students should be taught the use of computer technology in applications such as music notation and arranging. 4. Instructors proficient in writing should be made available to assist students in the preparation of papers on topics related to music, which should be required in some courses.更多还原
