【Abstract】 Ten years ago, the decision that socialist country can and should perform market economy made by Deng Xiaoping in his famous "South Talk" is a fairly wise selection. Socialist market economy accords with the necessity of China’s historical development . The commodity economy can’t be overstepped ,so the market economy is inevitable . Socialist market economy has the propriety in the theory structuring There exist some identities and differences between Deng xiaoping’s socialist market economy theory and the western scholars’ " market socialism". The latter has only theoretical character while the former has both the theoretical character and the practical character.
