【Abstract】 Laurence Sterne was the most radical novelist in carrying out the artistic development of the English novel in the 18th century. His masterpiece Tristram Shandy not only shows a completely new notion of creative writing, but also presents itself as the first truly experimental novel in the history of English Literature.
